Revision Rhinoplasty | Houston
In general, revision rhinoplasty is about restoring proper nasal function and correcting one or more aspects of the aesthetic form after previous nasal surgery.
Houston rhinoplasty surgeon, Dr. Ben Cilento, realizes that there is an extra layer of emotion tied to revision rhinoplasty. The normal and happy primary rhinoplasty story has been replaced by one of disappointment. Our revision rhinoplasty patients are often dealing with feelings of remorse, frustration and even pain and discomfort from nasal obstruction.
As with all of our plastic surgery patients, we take a comprehensive and compassionate approach to your surgery journey. This is extremely important to us in revision rhinoplasty cases.
What Are The Benefits Of A Revision Rhinoplasty?
Improved Nasal Breathing After Revision Rhinoplasty
Sometimes after a rhinoplasty patients experience compromised breathing or a loss of structure. Because of his experience as both a sinus surgeon and facial plastics surgeon, Dr. Cilento is an expert at reconstructing the structure and restoring normal breathing.
Improved Aesthetics
Dr. Cilento has spent twenty years studying, teaching and writing about bad rhinoplasty outcomes. He has the knowledge, experience, and skill to restore natural-looking results in noses in revision rhinoplasty.
Improved Self Esteem
Because the nose is the central feature of the face it can have a profound effect on our self-esteem. Having imperfections and issues corrected can help to restore self-confidence.
Is Revision Rhinoplasty More Expensive Than Traditional Rhinoplasty Surgery?
Revision Rhinoplasty is more complex than you primary rhinoplasty surgery and thus often more expensive. There is scar tissue to deal with and there is often less tissue to work with. Both of these make a revision rhinoplasty a more complex surgery. Because of Dr. Cilento’s vast experience with revision rhinoplasty, many surgeons send their complicated cases to our office.
How Long After My First Surgery Should I Wait For My Revision?
It is recommended to wait for 9 months to a year after your last surgery before pursuing most revision maneuvers. The normal healing process continues after surgery for up to 18 months. A problem you see at the second month of post op, may resolve itself as healing continues. These changes have to be accounted for when planning for the revision rhinoplasty you’ve been thinking about.
