How it’s done
A rhinoplasty is typically performed as an outpatient procedure. You will be given local or general anesthesia which will either calm you down or allow you to sleep through the procedure. It also makes the procedure painless. During a rhinoplasty operation, the surgeon may make cuts across the base of the the nose or nostrils. Next, the cartilage and bone will be reshaped to fit the desired look.
The recovery
A nasal splint is typically worn for the first week post surgery. You can expect to have swelling and bruising around the eyes, but this will improve around day three. These side effects can last a few weeks. You will need to avoid anything strenuous for the first 1 to 2 months after surgery, but most patients can return to their normal work schedule an social activities after a 3 weeks.
